An Honest Mover!

You know I love it when I am looking at other movers and I find a completely honest mover. Believe it or not, this is sometimes a rarity. But, today in looking through Craigslist I found a co0mpletely honest mover…

Okay, actually he is not a mover but a moving laborer (he does say he works for a moving company.) Still, it is refreshing to see this on Craigslist. While there are many movers that advertise there that are honest the number that are dishonest far exceeds our small click.

Anyway, here is Bill’s ad that he posted in the Battle Creek Craigslist:

Are you looking to move. Let me Help you with that. Loading / Unloading / Packing I can handle it
PACKING SERVICES…….WHAT A PAIN….. LET ME DO THE PACKING FOR YOU……… I DO NOT UNPACK THOUGH
I currently work for a moving company which I can not disclose on here but I definately [sic] know what im doing

I am willing to drive the truck for you but i will not be renting them for you
Maybe you only have a couple of items and maybe its a whole house. Either way is fine.

My Rates:
$75.00 per hour with a 2 hour minimum
$25.00 traveling and fuel charge
EMAIL TODAY
I am uninsured so i cant offer coverage on the items but i will do everything in my power to keep you and your articles safe and happy.
SEND ME AN EMAIL OF WHAT YOU NEED MOVED AND I WILL EMAIL YOU A QUOTE BACK
TO MUCH TO LIST….. I OFFER FREE ON-SITE SERVICES- JUST SHOOT ME AN EMAIL — MY NAME IS BILL

I can forgive the grammatical errors for the fact of his complete honesty.

I do think his rates are a bit high for just a laborer, but heck, if he gets the business then more power to him. I love the fact that he comes right out and tells you that he is NOT insured. Some many would have not done this.

Although he refuses to tell what moving company he works with I would hazard a guess to say it is Greater Michigan Movers as they are the only one is Battle Creek. (If I am right Bill I promise I won’t tell Mike.)

Just thought I would write and talk about this.

Illegal Movers Hire Sex Offenders And Criminals

When you hire illegal rogue movers you are not only taking a risk of being scammed, but you are also letting known sex offenders and convicted criminals know where you live.

Illegal movers (also called “rogue movers”) often hire the cheapest labor they can find. Many of these labors are sex offenders and criminals. And we are not talking about minor offenses either people; we are talking major felonies.

Recently a state agency did a sting of movers and what they found was appalling. Here is what they found:

[M]any of the subjects who posed as movers had felony convictions. Some of the crimes were Rape I, Robbery II, Assault IV, Unauthorized Use of a Vehicle, and drug charges. Two were registered sex offenders.

You may not be aware of these little things, but you cannot trust the workers of illegal movers. These people have already demonstrated a lack of morals and ethics, so what is preventing them from stealing from you? Are you moving with young children?

…You may want to re-think hiring those low-baller illegal rogue movers.

Here in Michigan I have reported several moving companies that may not be your first option to hire. These guys have all proven (to me) that they are lawless, and in my research I have found some horrifying facts…

Greater Michigan Movers: The owner Mike has a criminal record. Last year the police raided his home and confiscated his computer because it was filled with child porn.

AAfordable Movers: They are also pimps. Google their phone number and you’ll find several listings for hookers that they placed on Craigslist and Backpage. They call themselves “Angel’s Angels”.

A Better Move: A good portion of their labor force are criminals. It has been reported that they even had hire one individual that was on a tether (ankle bracelet.)

And this is just starting to scratch the surface.

There is tons of dirt I could shovel at you, but I believe you get the picture.

So what you need to do is hire legitimate moving companies. Licensed and insured companies have to put their work force through background checks. Of course that doesn’t mean it is full-proof but you are better served and can rest easier knowing that you are getting the best.

I wrote this not to scare you, but to inform you. Now that you know the truth you can avoid these illegal movers and have a stress free move.

Moving Company Review: Greater Michigan Movers, LLC

Moving Company Review

Company: Greater Michigan Movers, LLC
Grade: F
City: Battle Creek

Update: Not that long ago the owner of Greater Michigan Movers (Mike Kuzma) home was raided by the police and his personal computer confiscated because it was filled with child porn.

Remember, it is not only your possessions you have to protect but your family and children. Letting unsavory people know where you live may not be the best practice.

I personally think that my moving company, U-Save Moving, is the best. But in life there comes along someone that is always better. In the case of Greater Michigan Movers, LLC I think this company deserves much acclaim. Are they better than us? NO! Of course you may take that with a grain of salt as I am biased. Do I want to applaud this company? No, never. Do I have to? Karma dictates that I do. As I grit my teeth and smile fakely, here is their review:

Greater Michigan Movers, LLC is based out of Battle Creek. I believe one of the few moving companies that will actually admit that. They are not centrally placed. In fact, unless I lived in that area I would not be hiring them to do moves for me. This is not a criticism as much as it is a fact. I would not recommend these movers to move someone in Detroit, Flint or Ann Arbor. But if you lived in Kzoo, Battle Creek, Jackson or even Grand Rapids then yes; look them up.

I do have to fault them on one critical point. They seem angry. If you read their Craigslist ads what you will read is them bagging on everyone else instead of telling people what they are good at, which is moving people. My opinion is they spend far too much time on the negative than they do on the positive. Advertise on Craigslist, by all means, but leave the negative postings out of your advertising. Of course, you should warn people of bad movers, and what to look out for, but to revel in it…

This company does advertise on Craigslist, which I am sure gets them a lot of business. I only see them advertise in the Kalamazoo area. They do have a website which you may go to. It’s not a great site, but it does succinctly detail what they are about and what they do.  They are also listed in the Yellowpages for their area. This is a great sign as scam companies will not be listed anywhere else but the internet. This company is easily viewable.

They are not a member of the BBB. This is not a good sign as they have been in business for long enough to qualify. Based on information by the BBB they have been requested to provide information to the BBB but have failed to do so. I don’t know the reason for this, but it is a bad indicator. They do not have a rating with the BBB, neither good or bad. However, they have had a couple of complaints levied against them. One was handled, the other was not.

They are licensed and insured, but they are not bonded like they claim. A slight lie, but a lie none the less. Per the State of Michigan data on them they have not had any problems with their licensing or insurance. Their insurance is standard insurance and nothing special.

I cannot find any bad comments on them in any of the third party consumer advocacy groups. This is good, because if they did have comments in those then you can rest assured they are really a bad mover. All moving (all companies) will eventually not please someone. Only having two complaints with the BBB is not bad at all.

I feel that if you were to use this company that you would experience a pleasant move and that for the most part it would be problem free. And if a problem did exist, then from what I researched they would make every effort to handle it. So use this company with confidence.
