M & M Professional Moving Complaints

M & M Professional Moving was starting to impress me, but recently all I am hearing is complaint after complaint. I have received two complaints on this company in less than 24 hours.
M & M Professional Moving is owned by Michael Denski. They are out of Warren Michigan. Michael was starting to do the right things with his company. They lad an official business name with their city. And they had DOT numbers…but it turns out that they are just completely hogwash and ruse to get more business. Typical actions from a moving scam company.
They are also continuing their affiliation with A Better Move a notorious moving company from the same area. Between these two companies I have received the most negative comments.
Here I am go to list some of the complaints that I have gotten on them:

August 19, 2010 at 4:37 pm (Edit)Worst moving experience ever! We hired them to load our 16ft rental truck. We had hardly any furniture and a lot of boxes. Should be an easy and quick load, right? They took over five hours! We were supposed to have 3 guys working for us. One was the “boss” and he didn’t do anything except sit on his butt and talk on his cell phone. One was an old guy with an obvious bad back, and he was slower than molasses> I also caught him smoking in an upstairs bedroom during one of the numerous “breaks” he took. The other mover was a young guy who mostly stayed in the truck arranging the load and didn’t do much else. I also caught him taking numerous “breaks” and not doing anything.
Do not hire this company! They are a rip-off!

August 16, 2010 at 5:22 pm (Edit)Michael Denski’s M&M Professional Moving is absolutely NOT a reputable company. Their drivers were 3 hours late to start with and then they overcharged me by an hour, which, shame on me, I did not notice until AFTER I had TIPPED them and they had left. The worst, though, is that my 1 year old table was scratched big time during the move, right on top. When I pointed it out to the guys, they said to make sure that I called the insurance number on the invoice form. There turned out to be no number on the form, so I called owner Michael Denski. He said he would send someone out to work on it for me, but the person never showed up and never even called. So, I called Michael Denski back and he said that they (I guess Denski’s crew….since supposedly they have been in business for 13 years – – yeah right!) would come and get my table to take it to have it worked on, but once again, no one showed up. I have left a message every day for about a month now and Michael has not returned any of my calls.
Also, I did not know that my elderly neighbor had spoken to one of the movers during my move and engaged them to help her daughter move that following week. I found out that they tacked on a bunch of fuel charges that she was never told about and they demanded a tip from her as well. I suppose they would have done that to me if I hadn’t have been stupid enough to give it in the first place.
DO NOT USE M&M PROFESSIONAL MOVING!!!! AND, IF YOU DO, EXPECT TO GET CHARGED MORE THAN AGREED TO AND DO NOT EXPECT ANYTHING FROM THEM AFTER PAYMENT IF ANY DAMAGE OCCURS. I PERSONALLY WILL BE WATCHING FOR THEM ON CRAIGSLIST AGAIN TO WARN PEOPLE.

April 24, 2010 at 12:39 pm (Edit)M M Moving is NOT a reputable company! I would advise everyonr [SIC] to BEWARE of them. Last Saturday they moved my family. There quote said nothing about fuel charges or insurance charges. I have a 55′ big screen that I gladly paid the extra insurance on only to have them drop it – the casing is cracked and the picture now has big black lines running through it. I called them several times before Michael finally agreed to send someone out to look at it – did he – NO! I have called several times every day but he is avoid my calls. This company is a total scam – stay away from them.
Another interesting tidbit about this company; most of the complaints that I get on this company come from women. Are they singling out the women because they think they are weaker or can be intimidated easier? You’ll have to be the judge on that one.
Just thought you should have the info.
Good luck with your move.

Illegal Movers Hire Sex Offenders And Criminals
November 24, 2009 by admin
Filed under Moving Company Reviews, Moving News, Moving scams
When you hire illegal rogue movers you are not only taking a risk of being scammed, but you are also letting known sex offenders and convicted criminals know where you live.
Illegal movers (also called “rogue movers”) often hire the cheapest labor they can find. Many of these labors are sex offenders and criminals. And we are not talking about minor offenses either people; we are talking major felonies.
Recently a state agency did a sting of movers and what they found was appalling. Here is what they found:
[M]any of the subjects who posed as movers had felony convictions. Some of the crimes were Rape I, Robbery II, Assault IV, Unauthorized Use of a Vehicle, and drug charges. Two were registered sex offenders.
You may not be aware of these little things, but you cannot trust the workers of illegal movers. These people have already demonstrated a lack of morals and ethics, so what is preventing them from stealing from you? Are you moving with young children?
…You may want to re-think hiring those low-baller illegal rogue movers.
Here in Michigan I have reported several moving companies that may not be your first option to hire. These guys have all proven (to me) that they are lawless, and in my research I have found some horrifying facts…
Greater Michigan Movers: The owner Mike has a criminal record. Last year the police raided his home and confiscated his computer because it was filled with child porn.
AAfordable Movers: They are also pimps. Google their phone number and you’ll find several listings for hookers that they placed on Craigslist and Backpage. They call themselves “Angel’s Angels”.
A Better Move: A good portion of their labor force are criminals. It has been reported that they even had hire one individual that was on a tether (ankle bracelet.)
And this is just starting to scratch the surface.
There is tons of dirt I could shovel at you, but I believe you get the picture.
So what you need to do is hire legitimate moving companies. Licensed and insured companies have to put their work force through background checks. Of course that doesn’t mean it is full-proof but you are better served and can rest easier knowing that you are getting the best.
I wrote this not to scare you, but to inform you. Now that you know the truth you can avoid these illegal movers and have a stress free move.

Avoiding Moving Scam Traps!
October 29, 2009 by admin
Filed under Moving News, Moving scams
I believe there is powerful lessens to be learned from those that have had bad moving experience, whether or not is was just a bad move or a moving scam. And by knowing of these stories you can learn to avoid moving scam traps and pitfalls.
Recently, there has been an individual that was wronged, apparently, from a local moving company here. So this person then splattered all over Craigslist his dissatisfaction for this moving company. I do have to say that I do not agree or condone this persons approach to the matter, but I do understand their frustration. But what can we learn from this so that we can avoid the same mistakes and not fall victim of moving scams?
Here is the actual Craigslist ad:
They are not insured as advertised Check their reviews at http://www.professional-moving.com/move-complaints/ . The drivers are rude, and unprofessional. were supposed to show at 1, but didn’t call me until 4;30 to tell me they would still be another hour and a half!!!! he didn’t even apologize!!!! This screwed me because I had to have my stuff out of there by 6. I told the guy that and he told me “thats how it’s gonna be, take it or leave it and I’m hanging up” THEN HE HUNG UP ON ME!!!!!!!!!!!! I called the “owner”, Mike Nash, and left several messages but he will not call me back. The whole group is unprofessional and doesn’t care about their customers. Now looking at their reviews though, I’m glad they didn’t show!!! Only use this company if you want to be treated like dirt and have a very unpleasent experience. they screwed me though, and I WILL be taking them to court.
You can view it as it is on Craigslist with this link: http://detroit.craigslist.org/wyn/lbs/1440922418.html
So what are the lessens that this persons misfortune can teach us?
Lessen 1: Price.
This person obviously choose this mover because of the price. That is a moving scammers way of putting out cheese to snare the mouse. Moving scammers often advertise low prices…then whammo! They hit you with all sorts of nasty curve balls.
So never choose a mover just because he charges you a low ball price than everyone else.
Rule of Thumb: The lower the moving cost the more likely it is a moving scammer or an uninsured and non-licensed mover, which means the greater chance of a poor or bad moving experience.
Lessen 2: Research.
This mover obviously did no research on this moving company. Only after they had a bad experience did they research this mover and found all sorts of bad movers. That’s closing the barn doors after the cows got out.
Research the moving company BEFORE you hire them.
How do you research a moving company? Follow these simple steps:
- Google the moving company name.
- Google the moving company’s phone number.
- Check out their website. No website is a bad indicator.
- Ask for references.
- Check with the BBB.
- Check with US Department of Transportation for licensing and insurance.
Of course there is more. I have over 200 different articles on this website that you can read to learn how to avoid moving scams including 20 questions that you should ask any mover before you hire them.
Rule of thumb: Always research the moving company BEFORE you hire them.
Lessen 3: Have a backup plan.
While this persons move was tragic, it could have been avoided if they had had a back up plan.
To be fair to movers there are occasions where they do run late due to unforeseen circumstances. Trucks do breakdown. Employees show up late or not at all. An earlier move is more problematic than anticipated. So knowing this, you should have a back up plan just in case something goes amiss. This will help you avoid unnecessary stress.
Lessen 4: Time.
This person thought he had time, but it turned out that they did not.
I have seen many times in my own moving company where a customer has scheduled a move for the very last minute. You are only inviting disaster when you do this.
If you know that you have to be out before the 1st of the month lets say, then don’t book your move for the first of the month. Book your move to take place a day or two before.
Leaving your move to the last minute is just lazy. If it is about money, then you should save up, or failing that then negotiate with your mover and work out some sort of payment plan. Most legitimate movers will and can work with you.
Rule of thumb: Leave yourself enough time to move so that you are not stressed out if something goes wrong.
These are just some of the lessen you can learn from this persons unfortunate moving experience. But as you can see this person is not fault free. I sympathize and empathize with this person, but it could all have been avoided (they should hired me…lol.)
Avoiding moving scam traps is easy. Don’t get lulled into a bad moving experience because of ignorance.
P.S. The moving company in question: A Better Move is not, in my opinion, a good moving company. I have received many complaints about this company by unsolicited former customers. I have published a few of them on this website. You can read also their moving company moving review where I expose the fact that they are not licensed etc.

A Better Move Complaints
September 30, 2009 by admin

“A Better Move” is a company out of Ann Arbor area that claim they are licensed and insured, which they are not.
A while back I reviewed this moving company and found that they lie often in their advertising and directly just to get a moving job. Read their moving company review.
Since that review I had heard of many complaints from dissatisfied customers. I am including two complaints that have come to me personally from their customers. I asked for none of these complaints. They fully originated by their perspective authors, and they are unedited.
Here is the first one:
Judy says:
June 8, 2009 at 5:31 pmI hired A Better Move last week to move from one apartment to another (only 1 mile away). The owner’s name is Mike anc can be reached at 734-716-8586. Two movers showed up, the site manager’s name was “Tony.” What a nightmare! I hired them to do a job that should have taken 6 hours (this is based on two other companies who came to assess the move). They started moving at 12:30 PM (I had requested an 11:00 start) and finally had the furniture in my new apartment at 3:30 AM!!! They did not complete the move…all the furniture was set down anywhere in my apartment, the beds were not put together, and there were still approx. 50 boxes that I had to move myself with the help of some friends. These guys milked each and every minute they were there. Countless cigarette and cell phone breaks, girls showing up who were supposed to be “helpers,” endless complaining and negativity. Tony actually yelled at me at 12:30 AM saying he had “had it” and demanded to be paid saying that he was leaving. Mike, the owner, had to call in a replacement at 1:30 AM to finish unloading the truck. I hired this company to relieve me of stress and all it did was compound my stress, waste time and money.
This is not yet over. I have come across several pieces of furniture with significant damage (my furniture is wood, beautiful and expensive).
I have never encountered such unprofessional, rude, lazy people.
DO NOT HIRE “A BETTER MOVE!!!” YOU WILL BE SORRY!!!
Here is the other complaint:
Holly says:
September 28, 2009 at 1:46 pmI really really wish I would have read this review before hiring this company. I hired them to move all of my stuff from one house to another house a few miles away. I have a 3 bedroom house that is 1000 sq feet but also have a finished basement with a lot of extra boxes. I hired 3 movers because I have a lot of stuff and a pretty heavy TV. One thing they say in their craigslist ad is that they have “no hidden fees”, well that is just a plain lie. They did tell me up front about the “truck fee” which is one hour of pay ($70 in my case). When the movers arrived, they said there was another $20 fuel fee and another $20 for each TV over 40 inches. The movers were supposed to arrive between 9-10 AM. At 10:45, I called Mike Nash and left a vmail. He called back at 11AM and said that the movers “just left the shop”, that was also not true, as they didn’t show up for another 2 hours, no apology, no excuse, nothing. Previously, I’ve hired one other moving company from craigslist and they were awesome, they had a 3 man crew, 2 guys worked on the furniture, 1 guy worked on boxes. These guys however did not do that, they had all 3 guys working on the basic furniture which really means two were carrying couches, etc and the other just sat around “supervising”. They took countless breaks to talk on the phone, text, smoke breaks, etc. The guys constantly complained about this and that, not wanting to move certain things because they were too heavy, or too difficult to get around corners. They were just plain slow at everything. They did start to speed up when we were unloading the truck, although 3 of us helped with a lot of the unloading. Although they did seem to be very careful with our stuff which was nice and they put blankets between tables, glass, etc, one of my tables was scratched pretty badly and they dropped a couch on the floor scratching the new wood flooring. All in all it took 7.5 hours to move with an extra hour for the “truck fee” so the total was 8.5 hours. So although they weren’t as bad as the previous postings, I do think other movers could have done this job about 2 hours quicker without complaining, moaning, and groaning.
And here is the latest complaint that was posted on Craigslist just today (Oct 28, 2009)
Moving Company Review
Company: M & M Professional Moving/A Better Move
Grade: F
City: Ann Arbor
Update: M & M’s new ads are now displaying their DOT number. This is a good thing, and they are one of the few moving company’s that are following the law here. It looks like Micheal is doing a lot to upgrade his company’s image. However, to my knowledge, he still continues to associate with “A Better Move.” ABM has a horrible company image and if I were Mike I would do everything in my power to distance myself from them.
But because of the effort and the lawful ads I am upgrading this company’s grade to a “C+”.
I have not verified M & M’s displayed DOT # yet.
Update 12/25/08: In further research I found that this company has a legal DBA. The owner is Michael Denski and the address is: 5010 Williams, Wayne, MI 48684. As such my original thoughts on this company are ringing true. However, due to the fact that he is still associated with A Better Move I have not upgraded the companies grade by much. Instead of an “F” I have given them a “D”.
update: In further research I found that this company is called “A Better Move.” You can read my review of this company else where on this blog. It was not a stellar review. Truthfully I think they are a scam and should be avoided at all costs. When a Moving company operates under more than one name, and cannot be found anywhere on the ‘net then it is a good assumption that the company is less than honorable. I have revised this moving companies grade from “C-” to an “F.”
There are many moving companies this is a fact. Many advertise, especially only on the internet, claim they are full service moving companies. Some of them put large, impressive words in their ads like “reliable”, “professional”, etc. That is okay if they are truly any of those. Some a very arrogant and put those words in their companies name. This company is just one of those.
I called this company up just to see what they would say and do and to ask the tough questions. When I called the number that they advertised in their ad the phone rang at least four times before a young lady answered the phone. The phone was answered only with a “hello.” Tell me this: Is that professional? I asked if this was M & M and the lady started laughing embarrassedly and explained that the number was forwarded and then gave me the “main number.”
Of course I called that number. It rang exactly four times and then sent me to voice mail. The voice mail did not confirm the business in any way. It only repeated the number called. Again: Is this professional?
I went snooping on this company to see what I could find, and I’ll tell you I could not find much of anything. Which you know from the other reviews is not a good sign.
They are not members of the BBB. This could mean they just refuse to be members, or they are too new to sign up. They did not even have a profile of the company listed. There were no negative comments either, which is a good sign.
I then searched on Google for them and could not find anything expect ads that they had placed in Craigslist. No company info; no nothing. Would a “professional” company have nothing about themselves on the internet in some way? I don’t think so.
I could not find have negative or positive listings or information on them in any of the scam alert websites. This is good as far as not having anything bad written on them.
I am still searching for this company, but now I am looking in the yellowpages. Nope! Nothing there either.
This company is totally invisible expect for a couple of postings in Craigslist. Does this make the company a bad company? Not necessarily. With my very brief conservation with the young lady, she was embarrassed with the way she answered the phone. I got the sense that she wished she had been more professional in manner. I found this to be a good sign.
It is my take that this is a good company; but a new company. Their ad says that they are family owned which means a small business. A small business, especially if it is just starting out may not have the ad budget to advertise in other places. However that does not excuse the fact that they are invisible as a company.
This company is not licensed and therefore not insured for moving with the State of Michigan.
Because of the above I graded this company poorly, however it would be easy for this company to immediately raise their grade if they did the following: Get themselves listed in the yellowpages with a free listing on the internet. They have no website which lazy at best because you can get a FREE 5 page website easily. Send the BBB a profile of their company, even if they don’t wish to be apart of the group.
If you wish to use this company make sure that you ask them plenty of questions and that you get your moving agreement in writing before the move. I believe this company to be a decent company, however do be leery of them.
Feel free to leave any comments you wish. If you are part of this company and wish to correct anything or explain further feel free to do so in the comments area. Thank you.
