A Better Move Complaints

“A Better Move” is a company out of Ann Arbor area that claim they are licensed and insured, which they are not.
A while back I reviewed this moving company and found that they lie often in their advertising and directly just to get a moving job. Read their moving company review.
Since that review I had heard of many complaints from dissatisfied customers. I am including two complaints that have come to me personally from their customers. I asked for none of these complaints. They fully originated by their perspective authors, and they are unedited.
Here is the first one:

June 8, 2009 at 5:31 pmI hired A Better Move last week to move from one apartment to another (only 1 mile away). The owner’s name is Mike anc can be reached at 734-716-8586. Two movers showed up, the site manager’s name was “Tony.” What a nightmare! I hired them to do a job that should have taken 6 hours (this is based on two other companies who came to assess the move). They started moving at 12:30 PM (I had requested an 11:00 start) and finally had the furniture in my new apartment at 3:30 AM!!! They did not complete the move…all the furniture was set down anywhere in my apartment, the beds were not put together, and there were still approx. 50 boxes that I had to move myself with the help of some friends. These guys milked each and every minute they were there. Countless cigarette and cell phone breaks, girls showing up who were supposed to be “helpers,” endless complaining and negativity. Tony actually yelled at me at 12:30 AM saying he had “had it” and demanded to be paid saying that he was leaving. Mike, the owner, had to call in a replacement at 1:30 AM to finish unloading the truck. I hired this company to relieve me of stress and all it did was compound my stress, waste time and money.
This is not yet over. I have come across several pieces of furniture with significant damage (my furniture is wood, beautiful and expensive).
I have never encountered such unprofessional, rude, lazy people.
DO NOT HIRE “A BETTER MOVE!!!” YOU WILL BE SORRY!!!
Here is the other complaint:

September 28, 2009 at 1:46 pmI really really wish I would have read this review before hiring this company. I hired them to move all of my stuff from one house to another house a few miles away. I have a 3 bedroom house that is 1000 sq feet but also have a finished basement with a lot of extra boxes. I hired 3 movers because I have a lot of stuff and a pretty heavy TV. One thing they say in their craigslist ad is that they have “no hidden fees”, well that is just a plain lie. They did tell me up front about the “truck fee” which is one hour of pay ($70 in my case). When the movers arrived, they said there was another $20 fuel fee and another $20 for each TV over 40 inches. The movers were supposed to arrive between 9-10 AM. At 10:45, I called Mike Nash and left a vmail. He called back at 11AM and said that the movers “just left the shop”, that was also not true, as they didn’t show up for another 2 hours, no apology, no excuse, nothing. Previously, I’ve hired one other moving company from craigslist and they were awesome, they had a 3 man crew, 2 guys worked on the furniture, 1 guy worked on boxes. These guys however did not do that, they had all 3 guys working on the basic furniture which really means two were carrying couches, etc and the other just sat around “supervising”. They took countless breaks to talk on the phone, text, smoke breaks, etc. The guys constantly complained about this and that, not wanting to move certain things because they were too heavy, or too difficult to get around corners. They were just plain slow at everything. They did start to speed up when we were unloading the truck, although 3 of us helped with a lot of the unloading. Although they did seem to be very careful with our stuff which was nice and they put blankets between tables, glass, etc, one of my tables was scratched pretty badly and they dropped a couch on the floor scratching the new wood flooring. All in all it took 7.5 hours to move with an extra hour for the “truck fee” so the total was 8.5 hours. So although they weren’t as bad as the previous postings, I do think other movers could have done this job about 2 hours quicker without complaining, moaning, and groaning.
And here is the latest complaint that was posted on Craigslist just today (Oct 28, 2009)
They are not insured as advertised Check their reviews at http://www.professional-moving.com/move-complaints/ . The drivers are rude, and unprofessional. were supposed to show at 1, but didn’t call me until 4;30 to tell me they would still be another hour and a half!!!! he didn’t even apologize!!!! This screwed me because I had to have my stuff out of there by 6. I told the guy that and he told me “thats how it’s gonna be, take it or leave it and I’m hanging up” THEN HE HUNG UP ON ME!!!!!!!!!!!! I called the “owner”, Mike Nash, and left several messages but he will not call me back. The whole group is unprofessional and doesn’t care about their customers. Now looking at their reviews though, I’m glad they didn’t show!!! Only use this company if you want to be treated like dirt and have a very unpleasent experience. they screwed me though, and I WILL be taking them to court.
Feel free to read my moving company review of Mike Nash and his company “A Better Move.”

I hired these two clowns also and they showed up and were very unprofessional. One was fat and lazy and the taller guy didn’t know what the hell he was doing. They show up with no gloves and wearing rubber shoes. Thank goodness they left and did not return. Do not waste your time with them. Their ad on Craigslist is : Local Moving Rates Of Just $45/hr For Two Men + 26ft Truck!
I posted the ad on 10/28. Anyone know these idots business address so I can give it to the court so I can sue them?? They aren’t listed with BBB
A Better Move is a fraud.this so called moving co is not licensed or insured.check it out with http://www.fmsca.com

Thanks Dave for your comments. We here at U-Save Moving thank you fully, however, what we don’t understand is how you can attack this moving company when yours is less than stellar. You might also wish to improve on your spelling. Attention to detail is important in our line of work and the fact that you can’t be bothered to even spell a simple word like “advise” correctly leaves us a little dumbfounded. Before you cast stones at the glass house you might wish to improve your image and company first.
Check out Dave’s moving company review here on this website: His company is Advanced Technical Moving. And in full disclosure Advanced Technical Moving is not licensed or insured either despite his claims to the contrary. He also states that he has 20 years experience. This would have made Dave 12 yrs old when he started…possible, but highly unlikely.
Today, Mike Nash started harrassing me. Called me twice at 11:13, 11:14, 11:15, and 11:45. He left me a very abusive voicemail saying I must be poor if I wanted to hire them and because I was moving my storage out to my moms house I must be living with “mommy and daddy”, threatened to take me to court for slander (which if he looked slander up in the dictionary he would see that it means saying things that are untrue to damage someones reputation…I’m just speaking the truth to save someone else the hassle), and he is even threatening my mother (he has her address because we were moving our things from the storage facility to her barn)!!
IS THIS REALLY THE COMPANY ANYONE WANTS WORKING FOR THEM?????????
